PROTECTING PEOPLE

The UK’s Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, widely known as Martyn’s Law, guides the security obligations placed on public venues. At Emerging Risks Global (ERG), we have been actively involved in shaping this legislation through Protect Duty Consultations. As trusted security advisors, we provide businesses with practical, effective solutions, ensuring compliance goes beyond a mere requirement to become a strategic advantage in resilience, reputation management, and public safety

Proactive planning and preparation is key

EXPERT SECURITY & COMPLIANCE SOLUTIONS

The cost of getting it wrong

The Act is regulated by the Security Industry Authority. For enhanced tier premises, the penalties for non-compliance are significant: fines of up to £18 million or 5 percent of worldwide revenue, whichever is higher, and in the most serious cases the power to close premises or stop events.

The requirements themselves are designed to be proportionate and largely low cost, focused on planning, preparation and staff readiness rather than expensive infrastructure. The real exposure is not the cost of compliance. It is the cost of being found unprepared.
